Eynsford's Neighbourhood Plan

YOUR chance to influence YOUR Village and environment

Eynsford is working together with our community to develop a Neighbourhood Plan. This is a community-led vision for how our villages and surrounding areas should evolve over the next 15 – 20 years. It will help us protect and enhance the environment in which we live.

This is a useful document about writing a neighbourhood plan. https://neighbourhoodplanning....

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN.

The planning team at SDC is currently working on a local plan for Sevenoaks District that, the Portfolio holder states "will guide development across our district over the next 15 years, shaping the places where we live, work and enjoy our natural environment".

The Eynsford neighbourhood plan together with the Local Plan will set the planning tests for new development in the Parish. Our Neighbourhood Plan will contain Eynsford specific policies that complement the district wide policies that SDC are proposing, with a local perspective.

Neighbourhood plans were introduced by the Localism Act 2011 to give local people more power to shape the futures of their communities and preserve what is of value while encouraging sympathetic and appropriate development.

The Neighbourhood Plan is informed by what comes forward from our public consultation and engagement, as long as it meets the requirements of planning law as expressed in policy documents including the most recent National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and meets the Basic Conditions.

There are further public consultations as the plan is developed including a formal 6-week consultation on the draft Plan. The Plan is also subject to examination and a referendum of all residents before it is finally "made" by Sevenoaks District Council.

The development of the neighbourhood plan is driven by the steering group, comprising 10 volunteers, including parish councillor Michael Barker and ratified by the parish council, all drawn from the local community and with a passion for this village and our rural parish.

All Steering Group meetings are held in public, and updates on these and other working group meetings with our appointed planning consultants, are reported to each Parish Council meeting. Steering Group minutes are published on the Parish Council website. Residents are welcome to come to all Steering Group meetings, listen and ask questions of the Chairman, who will provide an answer in a timely fashion, if not straightaway.
